Inspiration - Dianetics - An effective technique to manage stress

2026-05-06

Millions of people around the world started 2026 with New Year’s resolutions. These mainly focused on exercise, diet, finances, or mental health. But just a few weeks later, many of them had already fallen by the wayside. According to a Forbes Health survey, people generally stick to their resolutions for only three to four months, with many giving up as early as January. The dropout rate is so high that the second Friday in January is now informally known as “Quitter’s Day.” This term emerged following an observation by a fitness tracking app—now used worldwide—that a sharp but fleeting increase in physical activity appears in January in the data of its hundreds of millions of users.

It was precisely in response to this observation that volunteers at Dianetics centers (which are part of the Churches of Scientology) wanted to show people around the world that this state of affairs was not inevitable. In late February, they mobilized in more than 50 countries to offer their communities proven and lasting support. In doing so, they are responding to the growing need among many people to bring about real change in their lives. They delivered their message in the snow on the streets and in the squares of major cities in the British Isles, the United States, Scandinavia, and the cultural centers of continental Europe, as well as in the warmer regions of the Southern Hemisphere, on beaches and in bustling gathering places from São Paulo to Sydney and from Quito to Cape Town.

In Switzerland, too, many information booths were set up to promote Dianetics.

Dianetics volunteers, easily recognizable by their red clothing (winter coats in London or T-shirts on the beaches of Sydney), approached people, giving tens of thousands of interested individuals in more than 250 cities the opportunity to discover the book Dianetics, The Modern Science of Mental Health by L. Ron Hubbard, one of the most well-known works on the subject of the human mind. The term “Dianetics” comes from the Greek dia, meaning “through,” and nous, meaning “mind” or “soul.”

This book explores the causes of stress and unpleasant emotions and presents a technique to recognize and overcome them, thereby demonstrating the influence of the mind (or soul) on the body.

Among those who have taken an interest in Dianetics and speak about their experience, most report positive changes in their lives.

Many people take advantage of the beginning of the year to make a fresh start. Dianetics is a technique that allows one to gain greater control over one’s own life, reduce stress, and resolve unpleasant conditions. Those who wish to embark on this journey generally begin by reading the book Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, which has already been read by more than 22 million people worldwide.

In addition, the more than 330 Dianetics centers located in 55 countries hold seminars every weekend where interested individuals can learn more about this technique and discover practical steps to improve their personal well-being.
